There’s a lot of information and advice out there and it can be hard to know where to start. Working with a qualified careers development practitioner can be a very useful way to help to manage your career ideas and avoid ‘information overload’!
When looking for a careers development practitioner you might want to consider the following:
- Do they have a professional career development/career guidance qualification?
- Are they a registered member of a relevant professional body (such as the Career Development Institute)?
- Do they have a website or social media page where you can find out more about them?
- What is their approach to career guidance and how do they like to work?
- How much do they charge for their services and what will you get for your money?
Please note that some members of the Careers Writers Association are also qualified and practising careers development practitioners: you can search for them via our members directory.
